Qualifications and experience
Candidates should have graduated in an area with training in quantitative methods and must have a relevant postgraduate qualification. Knowledge of public health in countries with long life expectancy, such as Sweden and Japan is required, and publications in the fields of health, disease and health-related behaviour across the life-course is a prerequisite. Experience of statistical modelling suitable for longitudinal data handling using statistical software such as Stata, R or SAS, is essential. Experience of international collaboration in the field of ageing is essential. This post will provide excellent experience of research in a dynamic research environment in Örebro University Hospital and Örebro University. Personal suitability is particularly important for our selection of candidates.
Form of employment
This is a one-year appointment with salary according to qualifications and experience.
The person appointed will be placed in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Örebro University Hospital. Medical research has a high priority in Region Örebro County. Our research is being developed in close partnership with Örebro University to improve health and healthcare.

The School of Medical Sciences at Örebro University is seeking an epidemiologist/biostatistician/researcher in life-course and register research into influences on disease risk and treatment outcomes .

Duties and responsibilities
Applications are invited from epidemiologists, biostatisticians or other suitably qualified individuals to participate in epidemiological research to examine life-course influences on various aspects of health, as well as disease and treatment outcomes, including surgical treatment. This will involve use of longitudinal material from Sweden and other countries around the world. The post holder will be involved in several aspects of the research process, including planning and scientific writing, and will be responsible for data analysis and data management in collaboration with researchers in Sweden and internationally. This may occasionally involve national and international travel. The post offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to develop their own research interests.

Qualifications
Candidates should have graduated in a discipline with training in quantitative methods, such as health, medical, psychological, statistical, behavioural or social sciences. Key aspects of the job include statistical analysis and data handling, using and advising on appropriate methods for analysis in observational and intervention studies. Knowledge of epidemiological research is highly desirable and experience in data handling and using statistical software such as Stata, SPSS or SAS is essential. Experience of research or research support, and a postgraduate qualification are desirable but more recently qualified applicants may be considered if they can demonstrate competence.

Background
Epidemiological research at the School of Medical Sciences includes using large and complex cohort and record linkage studies.  This material is used across research groups in Örebro, so we are seeking someone who can prepare and analyse data to support a variety of projects.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include discussing project requirements with researchers and then preparing data and participating in the analysis. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate as a collaborator in some of the research projects.

Qualifications
Candidates should have undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in a discipline with training in biostatistical methods.  Key aspects of the job include data handling and statistical analysis. Knowledge of research in the areas of health and disease is essential, particularly using linked register data. Experience of handling large and complex data as well as conducting analysis using statistical software, such as Stata, SPSS or SAS, is essential. Candidates should have experience of working in epidemiological research or supporting research relevant to health.
